Create Services That Sell with Your Astrology Chart

Is your pretty new service collecting digital dust? It might be because you’re selling your process instead of your powerful results.

Hold onto your feelings: Your client doesn’t care about your process. They care about the outcome of your process. They care about what they’ll get from working with you.

You can try to sell your process or modality (e.g. coaching, tarot, astrology, graphic design, meditation) all day long, but if your ideal client can’t tell that you're going to help them soothe a pain point or achieve a desire, it’s going to be a tough sell.

Bottomline: If you're not clear on the problem your service solves or the dream result it offers, your client isn’t clear that it’s for them.

The good news is that your astrology chart clearly identifies the problems you’re uniquely qualified to solve and the results that you’re uniquely qualified to give. When you adjust the positioning of your service with your astrology chart in mind, you’ll start to see sales.

Planets as Solvable Problems and Sellable Solutions

In traditional astrology there’s a concept called planetary condition. It’s essentially a checklist that grades or rates planets according to their strength. This checklist is mashup of a lot of different factors including house and zodiac sign placement, planetary speed, direction, visibility, and aspects.

Planetary condition is how a pro astrologer determines your planetary outliers—which planets in your chart are exceptionally strong or weak.

In my business astrology framework, your strongest planet typically represents gifts and talents that you effortlessly bring to your clients. On the other hand, your weakest planet may represent a transformation you've experienced that you’re now able to lead others through.

One little note about weak planets: I only recommend building a service around a weak planet if you’ve solved the problem and experienced the transformation yourself. If it’s an issue you’re still actively struggling with, you may feel most comfortable and confident positioning your service based on your strongest planet.

How to Find Your Strongest and Weakest Planet

Planetary condition is complicated stuff, and I don’t want to make your eyes water, so I’ll try to keep this brief. (By the way, I’ll do all of this for you in a Cosmic CEO Blueprint.)

One easy way to tell if a planet is strong or weak is if it’s in a sign it loves or hates. Planets love being in their signs of domicile or exaltation. They don’t love being in their signs of detriment or fall.

Check the table below to see if you have a planet in one of these extreme locations. (It’s very normal if you don’t.)

Another way to determine if a planet is strong or weak is its house position. Planets are typically strongest in the angular houses (1, 4, 7, 10) and weakest in what I call the “shady” houses (2, 6, 8, 12).

Direct planets are stronger than retrograde planets, fast planets are stronger than slow planets, and planets that receive aspects to Venus and Jupiter are generally stronger than those receiving aspects from Mars or Saturn.

A planet is also weakened if it’s invisible because it’s too close to the Sun (15 degrees on either side).

Strong planets will check some or all of these boxes:

  • In its sign of domicile or exaltation

  • In an angular house (1, 4, 7, 10)

  • Moving direct (as in, not retrograde)

  • Moving fast

  • Visible

  • Receives an aspect from Venus or Jupiter

Weak planets will check some or all of these boxes:

  • In its sign of detriment or fall

  • In an unfavorable house (2, 6, 8, 12)

  • Retrograde

  • Slow

  • Invisible

  • Receives an aspect from Mars or Saturn

Most planets in your chart will be a mix of “good” and “bad” checkmarks. (We call this mixed condition in the biz.) But see if you can identify the ones that check the most in each category. For example, I don’t have any planets in domicile or exaltation, but I do have a planet in the 10th house. That’s the best I can do. I’ll take it!

Example: Web Designer

A web designer’s strongest planet is Venus in Pisces in the sixth house. (Yes, the sixth house is “unfavorable”, but remember that this is a holistic assessment. When we use the checklist, this Venus ends up pretty decent.)

  • Pisces (exaltation)

  • Sixth house (unfavorable)

  • Direct

  • Fast

  • Visible

  • Sextile Jupiter

As the strongest planet in the chart, Venus describes the dream result this web designer offers with her service. This Venus is exalted. An exalted planet is in a symbolically high place. Tangibly, that means respect, honor, and praise.

Remember, we’re not selling the process, we’re selling the result. In this case, the designer’s not selling web design, she’s selling brand elevation. She’d be wise to adjust her sales page to reflect the result her services really give: esteem and clout.

Example: Life Coach

A life coach’s strongest planet is Mars in Scorpio in the second house. Let’s take a look at the checklist:

  • Scorpio (domicile)

  • Second house (unfavorable)

  • Direct

  • Slow

  • Visible

  • Trine the Sun

This is another example of a planet in mixed condition, but when compared to all the other planets in the chart, it stands out. Again, as a strong planet, Mars is going to describe a dream result this life coach offers their client.

Right away, Mars in Scorpio tells me that this person is not a general life coach, and if they market themselves that way, it's going to fall flat. Mars in Scorpio is very focused, and people with this placement should offer very targeted transformations. It’s a specialist, not a generalist.

This coach is going to drive themselves up the wall trying to sell general coaching packages. Instead, they’d be smart to design an intense experience that offers a very specific result. With Mars being placed in the second house, this result is specifically around shifting money mindset.

Example: Health Coach

A health coach’s weakest planet is the Moon in Scorpio in the second house. Here’s the rundown:

  • Scorpio (fall)

  • Second house (unfavorable)

  • Direct

  • Visible

  • Fast

  • Co-present with Mars and Saturn

As the weakest planet in the chart, the Moon may represent the problem that this this health coach solves or the transformation they lead their clients through.

The Moon represents the body, its health, and its rhythms. When in a compromised position, it may describe a challenging health story someone has lived through. And that’s the case for this health coach. They’ve been inspired to help others because of their own healing journey. But let’s get more specific.

When a planet is in the sign of its fall, it’s “fallen” to a low place. It’s the opposite of exaltation. So instead of receiving honor and praise, this planet has lost some popularity points. It’s a little insecure.

Specifically, there’s insecurity and inconsistency around Moon things such as emotions, nutrition, sleep, or energy level. (This health coach has a lot of problems to choose from.) But no matter what their specialty is, what they’re really selling is the transformation from insecurity to security.

Tangibly, this might look like positioning their service as one that helps people go from feeling like they can’t trust their body’s ups and downs to feeling consistent.

Example: Social Media Manager

A social media manager’s weakest planet is Mars in Taurus in the 12th house. Here are the details:

  • Taurus (detriment)

  • 12th house (unfavorable)

  • Direct

  • Visible

  • Fast

  • No aspects

Taurus is the sign of Mars's detriment, which means it’s a place where Mars feels awkward, sluggish, and weak. Being tucked away in the shady 12th house adds to the story. Mars is hiding.

I like to think of Mars in Taurus as a car that's stuck in the mud. The wheels are spinning and mud is splattering all over the place. A lot of energy is being used, but the car's not going anywhere.

Practically, this might describe a client who feels afraid to put themselves out there on social media. They’re spending all their energy worrying about it instead of doing it. They might take one step forward and then two steps back.

Rather than just selling done-for-you Instagram posts, this social media manager might want to incorporate their Mars by creating a service that addresses the underlying emotional and energetic components of showing up online.

Your Turn

Grab a copy of your chart and try to identify the planetary outliers. Which planet is strongest? Which planet is weakest? How might the symbolism of each describe a problem you solve or a dream result you offer?
