10 Magical Things Planet Channeling Can Do for You

What drives me up the wall about astrology (even though I’m a total nerd) is how much thinking it requires. If you’ve studied astrology seriously for any amount of time, you know how much brainpower it takes to interpret a chart accurately. As someone who struggles with brain fog and also chronic mental health concerns, I don't always have the mental bandwidth to play with this highly intellectual side of astrology. But I still want to use astrology to guide my life and decisions. Can you relate?

Enter Planet Channeling. Planet Channeling is an intuitive way to receive information from your astrology chart about anything. (The keyword is receive…as opposed to force, think, or work.) Planet Channeling is a simple journaling technique that I accidentally created about five years ago where you ask your natal planets for insight. I’m obsessed with Planet Channeling because it makes astrology accessible. It costs a whopping zero dollars and doesn’t require a major amount of astrological know-how. I Planet Channel almost every morning over my matcha. I’ve used this easy technique to do everything from making business decisions to tweaking my self-care routine. There’s an endless number of things you can do with Planet Channeling once you get the hang of it. In this blog post, you’ll find ten creative ways to use Planet Channeling.

1. Interpret Your Astrology Chart Intuitively with Planet Channeling

Yes, you can use Planet Channeling to interpret your entire astrology chart, no apps, books or Googling required! This is the process I walk my clients through in my signature service Guided, but there’s no reason you can’t give it a go on your own. Schedule time to sit down with each planet in your natal chart and ask it to tell you about itself. Trust me, they’ll talk.

Start with a planet that really confuses you, maybe that Venus placement you don’t really resonate with, and ask it to reveal itself. Ask it what it’s interested in, what its talents and gifts are, and how it wants to help you.

This is so powerful, again, because it prevents you from outsourcing your intuition and insight to external sources and puts the power back in your hands. Let’s be real, apps are cool, but the interpretations are typically pretty cookie cutter and don't land one hundred percent. The beautiful thing about Planet Channeling is that the answers are coming from within you, meaning it’s always going to resonate.

2. Interpret Your Transits Easily with Planet Channeling

A transit is when a planet in today's sky comes around and “talks” to a planet in your natal chart. Transits often correlate with change, transition, and events in your life. If you have a transit coming up that you want to understand, I suggest setting up a Planet Channeling conversation with that transiting planet and ask it what it's offering you and how you can help it do its best work.

If you want to be really nerdy, set up a two-way conversation or “negotiation” between the transiting planet and the natal planet that’s going to receive the transit. For example, let's say transiting Saturn is about to oppose your natal Moon. Invite Saturn and the Moon to the page and host a conversation between the two. The Moon might ask Saturn what it can expect from the transit and any tips about navigating it smoothly.

3. Planet Channel Your Way to Confidence

Need a pep talk? Planet Channeling has you covered! Your planets love you and are itching to help you out. You just need to ask them. If you're feeling down, or like you’ve lost touch with yourself, ask one of your planet friends to pep you up. For example, when I’m feeling less than sparkly, I like to ask my natal Sun, How do you see me? Get ready for sunshine and rainbows!

Pro Tip: When you're Planet Channeling in the way I suggest, what you receive is always going to be loving. It might be tough love sometimes, but it’s never going to be belittling or berating.

4. Get Your Burning Question Answered with Planet Channeling

Who doesn’t love a good Oracle card pull when you have a specific question? But you have another option to add to your toolkit! Planet Channeling excels at providing specific answers to specific questions. After embodying and invoking the planet, simply pose your question and receive the answer. I like to do this in the form of a script. For example:

Me: Hey, Mercury. How should I price my new signature service?

Mercury: I’m so glad you asked! I’ve been thinking about this all day, and I have three options I want to run by you.

Asking a specific question is a bit more of an advanced Planet Channeling technique, so don’t feel discouraged if it doesn’t go perfect the first time around. When you’re new to the practice, it’s a lot easier to start with more general questions like, What would you like me to know?

5. Planet Channel a Step-By-Step Plan

As a business owner, requesting a step-by-step plan from a planet is one of my favorite things. I seriously do it all the time. Now, depending on what the plan is for, you’re going to want to be very strategic about which planet you choose to chat with. You’ll want to pick the right planet for the job. Each planet has a collection of skills that it excels at...and a collection that it struggles with. For example, I personally wouldn’t ask Uranus to make me a long-term business plan…although I’m sure it would be exciting. However, if I was planning a surprise party, you bet Uranus would be the first planet I’d run to.

6. Make the Planets Pull an All-Nighter

Have a big project that you need to make progress on? Ask one or two planets to pull an all-nighter for you. Here’s how it works:

In the evening, Planet Channel as usual, starting with an embodiment practice and an invocation. Invite the appropriate planets to the page (I usually ask my career planet to be present). Then, give them an assignment. For example, when I’m stuck on a book chapter and need a boost, I might write…

Hey, Venus. I’m stuck on chapter two and would love your help. Please flesh out my chapter two outline and present it to me in the morning.

Then, I go my merry way, have a night’s good sleep, and when I wake up the next morning, I begin channeling out the chapter. It’s amazing. I highly encourage you to give this a try with your next work presentation or school paper. I commonly do this with all of my business copywriting. I ask planets to help me draft sales pages, newsletters, and podcast outlines. (Who needs AI?!)

7. Call a Planet Staff Meeting

I love to view my planets as team members or co-workers, each with a specific role in my business. When it’s time to do my weekly planning, I invite them to a cosmic staff meeting. There’s lots of ways to run this “meeting”. You can do a round robin and ask each planet to share its priorities for the week, or you can take charge and give each planet a specific assignment. For example, I might task Jupiter with getting my podcast into the ears of new listeners. (Jupiter is great at spreading a message.)

8. Planet Channel a Roadmap

Planet Channeling isn’t just confined to journaling—you can draw too! Planet Channeling can help you visualize how you’ll go from here to there, and be sure to ask the planet to draw in any stops along the way. For example, maybe you want a roadmap of how to go from working an office job to starting your own business. Give this a shot! I suggest inviting your chart ruler (the planet that rules your ascendant sign) to consult with you on this one. This is the planet that helps you steer your life.

9. Price a Product or Service with Planet Channeling

If you're a business owner like me, you can invite your career planet (the ruler of your midheaven) and your money planet (the ruler of your second house) to weigh in on all of your financial decisions. Just like always, drop into your body with a short meditation, invoke the proper planets, and just let the conversation flow from your pen.

Pro Tip: When I'm Planet Channeling and numbers are involved, sometimes it's easier for me to use my non-dominant hand. This definitely slows things down, but it’s a handy trick if you’re stuck in your thinking mind.

10. Pick a Great Date with Planet Channeling

Planet Channeling can also help you pick an auspicious date for your next special event. This doesn't even have to be a journaling exercise. Rather, just ask a planet to assist you as you're flipping through a physical calendar. Notice if your hand begins to warm or tingle on certain pages or dates. Another option is to ask a planet to give you a specific date in a dream. This is more advanced Planet Channeling stuff, but I just want you to know what’s possible!
